Fiorentina are threatening to continue their recent recruitment drive by snapping up Chilean midfielder David Pizarro.

La Viola are believed to have offered the 32-year-old a two-year contract and Pizarro’s current club Roma are ready to bid farewell to the schemer.

Pizarro is not thought to be in the plans of new Giallorossi coach Zdenek Zeman, who is happy for him to depart.

The Chilean spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League champions Manchester City, in another sign he was surplus to requirements in the Italian capital.

The former Inter player has just one year remaining on his contract at Roma.

He joined the Giallorossi in 2006.
