Italian international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has expressed his desire to continue playing for Juventus and insisted he has no qualms about extending his contract whenever the officials at Old Lady bring the subject up.

The shot-stopper has less than a year remaining on his current deal at the Juventus Stadium. Yet, Buffon is not worried and will discuss his situation when the transfer window period is over.

“I’m in no hurry and I don’t envisage any problems”, said the Italian captain.

“I’ve always had an honest and straightforward relationship with the president.

“I’ve told the directors to think about their other priorities for now, then we’ll speak about it and find an agreement when the moment is right.”

Buffon has been serving the Old Lady since 2001, after his move from Parma, and has made 325 appearances in Serie A for the club in his 11-year stay.

He also spoke about the sense of excitement at Juventus at the return of Champions League football this season.

“We speak about the Champions League in the dressing room because, after three years, we finally have the opportunity to figure on the European scene", said Buffon.

“We are aware that there are two or three teams that are stronger than us, but we can certainly hold our own against the others.”
