Luca Toni has penned a one-year deal with former club Fiorentina.

La Viola have been on the lookout for another striker, but seen recent efforts to bring in several players come to naught.

Indeed, the Serie A side felt confident that they had captured Dimitar Berbatov earlier this week, however the Bulgarian ultimately opted to sign for Fulham.

And Fiorentina quickly turned their attention to Toni, whose last club was Al Nasr in the Middle East.

Toni has played for Fiorentina before, enjoying a spell at the club between 2005 and 2007 before leaving La Viola to sign for Bayern Munich.

Now the 35-year-old has been handled one last big challenge in his career, firing Vincenzo Montella’s side up the Serie A table.
