Raul Meireles has admitted that he will miss Chelsea after leaving the club to sign for Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese midfielder landed in Istanbul just before the Turkish transfer window closed, bringing to an end a hugely successful one-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

Having arrived from Liverpool last summer, Meireles picked up the Champions League and FA Cup with the Blues in the 2011/12 campaign, but has decided the time is right to move on, this time to Fenerbahce.

The former FC Porto star will miss Chelsea though.

"It was a great year", Meireles told Chelsea TV.

"The last part of the season was great, we won the Champions League, the FA Cup, and it was very good for me.

"I will miss these moments, but it is a new challenge for me and I am ready to go to Turkey.

"I hope things go well for me like they did at Chelsea this year."

Fenerbahce are Meireles’ third club in three years, after spells with Liverpool in 2010/11 and Chelsea in 2011/12.
