Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is missing the warmth he felt at former club Genk.

De Bruyne was snapped up by Champions League winners Chelsea in the January 2012 transfer window, but allowed to complete the campaign with Genk.

relatedNewsStoryThe schemer landed properly at Chelsea in the summer and was involved in the club’s pre-season tour of North America.

However, when the squad returned to London, De Bruyne was loaned out for the season to Werder Bremen in order to increase his playing time and speed up his development.

And while life in the Bundesliga is not disagreeable, De Bruyne does miss the atmosphere he enjoyed at former club Genk.

"I miss the warmth and the atmosphere of Genk", De Bruyne told Het Nieuwsblad.

"Germans are stiffer and more serious", he added.

"Werder Bremen is a family club, so it does more for the people that are around here."

De Bruyne is enjoying regular first team football at Werder Bremen though and has made seven appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season, scoring three goals.

He is under contract to remain at Chelsea until 2017.
