Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has had praise lavished on him by Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf and his team-mates at the Bundesliga club.

De Bruyne is on a season-long loan at Werder from Chelsea as the Blues look to give him the platform to speed up his development with regular first team football.


The Belgium international has quickly become a key player for Werder and impressed with the way he has adapted to life in the German top flight.

De Bruyne has played in all eight of Werder’s Bundesliga games so far this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

His quality is clear for all at the club to see and his team-mates and coach have painted a picture of a player they believe is destined for the very top.

"Kevin is an outstanding player", forward Marko Arnautovic told VRT.

Arnautovic’s words were echoed by Dutch winger Eljero Elia, who explained just how crucial De Bruyne has become for Werder.

"He is our hub in the middle of the pitch."

While coach Schaaf believes De Bruyne is learning quickly in Germany.

"I am delighted with the benefits that Kevin has brought to Werder", he said.

"He has already learned a lot in a short time and he is enjoying the confidence we place in him."
