Manchester City defensive coach Angelo Gregucci has confirmed that the Citizens are keeping tabs on Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic, a player admired by the English champions.

Jovetic was linked with Roberto Mancini’s men at points during the summer transfer window, but stayed put at La Viola and Manchester City have no shortage of attacking options.

Nevertheless, the Citizens’ interest is not dead, Gregucci has revealed.

"He is on our list, I can’t deny that", said Gregucci, who joined Mancini at the Etihad Stadium during the summer, to Violanews when asked about whether City are interested in the Montenegrin star.

"He is a great player, but I don’t know if he will wear the shirt of Manchester [City] or not, I can’t say.

"What I can say is that City’s interest is real, we cannot deny this stance."

And the length of the commitment the club have made to the player is ample evidence, with Jovetic under contract with Vincenzo Montella’s men until 2016.

It remains to be seen whether Mancini will make an approach for the talented forward, but the English side are likely to find a number of other clubs also keen on Jovetic.

This season the forward has shone in Serie A, scoring five goals in just eight games so far.
