The agent of highly-rated Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony has claimed that English giants Chelsea and Liverpool want to sign his client.

Bony excelled for Vitesse last season and attracted interest from another English club, Aston Villa, on the back of it.

Paul Lambert’s men even seemed to have agreed a deal to sign the 23-year-old during the summer, but saw Vitesse get cold feet at the last minute and decide to keep hold of Bony, a move which left the striker furious.

Now the January transfer window has been targeted as a time Bony could leave the Arnhem-based outfit and he could be set to join a bigger club than Aston Villa, simply by virtue of having waited for six months.

"Liverpool are one of the clubs who have been considering him", Bony’s representative Dalibor Lacina told isport.blesk.cz – the striker turned out for Czech side Sparta Prague before moving to Holland.

"Liverpool need a striker to increase their goalscoring rate, however, it does not mean we’re talking to them. They are just one of his suitors."

And Lacina went on to praise his client’s performances in the Eredivisie – he has notched 15 goals so car this season – while claiming it has also piqued Chelsea’s interest.

"It is clear that Bony has attracted interest thanks to his good performances and goalscoring, and one of the clubs interested as well is Chelsea."

Lacina though was at pains to point out that it is not yet certain Bony will leave Vitesse in January, rating the chances of a transfer for his client at "50-50".

Bony joined Vitesse in 2011 from Sparta Prague, but looks to have quickly outgrown the Dutch Eredivisie.
