Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the club’s board will provide him with funds to strengthen the squad in January if he needs to splash the cash.

The Gunners are stuttering in the Premier League and suffered defeat at home against Swansea City earlier today, going down to a 2-0 loss.

Wenger’s men have now slipped down to tenth in the standings, just two points ahead of struggling Liverpool, a side they comfortably outplayed at Anfield earlier this season, winning 2-0.

The Arsenal faithful made their feelings clear at the final whistle at the Emirates Stadium, with a chorus of boos ringing out.

Now the question is whether Wenger will revamp his team next month, when the winter transfer window swings open.

Asked about spending by the club’s official site, the Frenchman answered: "It’s difficult to answer that straight away after a game like that.

"I cannot say no, but I believe the support from the board is there to spend the money if we find the players."

Arsenal recently signed a new £150M sponsorship deal with Emirates Airlines, which should make some extra cash available for Wenger to spend.

The former Monaco coach has been criticised for not spending money even when it is available though and it remains to be seen whether he will go against his transfer instincts and splash the cash.
