Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted that attacking midfielder Wesley Sneijder could be sold if he does not sign a new contract at the club.

The Nerazzurri have offered Sneijder an extended contract, but one which would see his yearly salary drop from €6M to just €4M – and the Dutchman is understandably cool on inking the deal.

There has been talk of a renewed bid for his services from Manchester United, who are confirmed admirers of the former Real Madrid man, while in Russia, Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg would also dearly love to welcome the schemer with open arms.

And Moratti admits that, if there is no resolution between club and player, then the transfer market could solve the situation for all concerned.

"Sneijder is not playing because the coach thinks that he is not at his best, especially mentally", Moratti was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.

"He has the right to choose not to accept our offer", he added.

"In this case, the solution lies in the transfer market."

Were Inter to make Sneijder available for transfer they would surely see much interest in the talented Holland international, with Bundesliga outfit Schalke another club mooted as monitoring his situation.

The 28-year-old has only clocked up five appearances in Serie A this season, while he has featured just twice in the Europa League.

His current deal with Inter expires in 2015.
