Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has decided to manage in the English Premier League when he returns to the game, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Guardiola is currently taking a year out of football to recharge his batteries following four hugely successful seasons in charge of Barcelona; he stood down from his role as coach at the end of last season.

The Catalan tactician is currently in New York with his family, having relocated to the American city to escape the spotlight and constant speculation about his future.

He will return to the game at some point though.

And Guardiola is a man in demand, with Chelsea consistently linked with wanting to appoint him, while Manchester City has also been mooted as a possible destination if the Citizens part company with Roberto Mancini.

There also remains an outside chance Sir Alex Ferguson may call it at day at Manchester United in the summer, which would leave a vacancy at Old Trafford.

Guardiola has long been a fan of the English game and the news that he is eyeing coaching in the country is sure to concentrate many minds in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen where exactly he will end up, but he is sure to pocket a lucrative contract wherever he lands.
