Russian Premier League champions Zenit St. Petersburg are preparing a new push to sign Wesley Sneijder from Inter.

According to Russian daily Izvestia, Luciano Spalletti’s men believe that Sneijder may be willing to move to Russia.

Almost a year ago, Zenit were negotiating with Inter and Sneijder and looked to have a deal all but done, however the Dutchman opted against leaving Italy and turned down the Russian giants.

Since then though his situation in Milan has changed.

Sneijder has refused to sign a new contract at Inter which would shave €2M per year off his salary and has subsequently fallen out of favour with the Nerazzurri.

He has made just five appearances in Serie A so far this season.

Whether Sneijder is now prepared to sign for Zenit remains to be seen, but the Russian champions are ready to push hard to take the 28-year-old to St. Petersburg.
