Tottenham Hotspur could make a late swoop for Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda, in a bid to beat Turkish giants Fenerbahce to his signature, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Belhanda has already reached an agreement with Fenerbahce on a three-and-a-half-year contract, which would net him between €2M and €2.5M per year.

Spurs would easily be able to match the terms the Moroccan international has secured in Turkey, but it remains to be seen whether they have left it too late to bag the 22-year-old.

Montpellier want a fee of €12M for the talented schemer and Spurs may view Belhanda as the perfect replacement for Luka Modric, who departed for Real Madrid during the summer.
