Liverpool striker Luis Suarez feels that Manchester United control the English media, making it difficult for South American players to operate for their rivals in the Premier League.

Suarez was speaking during an interview with Fox Sports Argentina, in which he also admitted diving against Stoke City earlier this season, in order to try and help his team, comments which have caused much debate.

The Uruguayan striker cuts a concerned figure, someone who does not believe the English media dish out fair treatment to him or his South American colleagues. And Manchester United could be part of the reason, he feels.

"Manchester United control the media", Suarez said.

"They are powerful and the media will always help."

And he addressed the incident he was involved in with Patrice Evra last season, which saw Suarez handed a ban for racially abusing the Manchester United defender.

"I played with Evra and thought that maybe he spoke Spanish. Me, when unpleasant things are said about the fact that I am South American, I will not cry, these things happen on the pitch.

"[Sergio] Aguero and [Carlos] Tevez have repeated, it is difficult for the South Americans to play here, we are treated differently from local players."

Despite feeling he does not get a fair deal from the English media, Suarez has been superb in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, and has won much praise for his exploits.

The Uruguayan has bagged 15 goals in the English top flight, at times appearing to carry Liverpool’s goalscoring threat squarely on his shoulders.
