Veteran Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has left the ball squarely in the club’s court over whether he will still be at Anfield next season.

Carragher’s current contract with the Reds comes to an end during the summer and it is unclear whether his career at the club will continue for a further year.

The defender, who is a one-club man, is due to turn 35 before the end of the current month, and he is now well down the defensive pecking order at Liverpool.

However, Carragher has not rocked the boat and is simply postponing a decision over his future until he can sit down with the club and manager Brendan Rodgers at the end of the campaign.

"It’s up to the manager and the club to make a decision like that. It’s down to them. I’m pleased I got a game at the weekend and I’ll hope to get a few more games now", he told his club’s official site.

"I’ll chat to the manager at the end of the season. I’m open-minded and I’m sure the club are.

"But the club getting results is the most important thing. It’s not about what I’m going to do, that’s something we can sort out one way or another."

Carragher made his second start of the Premier League campaign at the weekend, as Liverpool crushed Norwich City 5-0 at Anfield.

With the Reds still involved in the FA Cup and Europa League, the veteran defender will hope for more chances to impress before the end of the season, with the ultimate aim surely being to earn a further one-year contract.
