FC Porto have snapped up Brazilian striker Liedson from Flamengo.

The 35-year-old hitman has signed on at the Estadio do Dragao until the end of the season on loan.

Liedson has prior experience of Portuguese football, having turned out for Sporting Lisbon between 2003 and 2011, where he enjoyed a prolific spell in front of goal.

The striker, who took Portuguese citizenship and represented Portugal 14 times at international level from 2009 until 2010, returned to his homeland in 2011, initially with Corinthians.

He then joined Flamengo last year.

Liedson will boost Porto’s title challenge, with the club currently battling Benfica for the SuperLiga crown.

Last season the 35-year-old scored five goals in 22 games in Brazil’s Serie A for Flamengo, as the club finished a disappointing eleventh in the standings.
