Everton have seen a bid of €14M for striker Alvaro Negredo rejected by Sevilla as a game of high-stakes poker is played over the Spain international.

According to Seville-based daily El Desmarque, the Toffees contacted Los Rojiblancos to send an offer of €14M to Negredo, confident that it would be enough to secure the former Real Madrid man’s services.

But Sevilla rejected it.

The Spanish giants are under pressure to sell a first team player, despite offloading goalkeeper Diego Lopez to Real Madrid, this month.

Los Rojiblancos had been confident of selling defender Federico Fazio to Zenit St. Petersburg, but the Argentine has failed to agree terms with the Russian Premier League side.

A figure of €18M was mooted as being Negredo’s asking price when Chelsea held an interest earlier this month, while Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with making a bid before the window shuts.

And €18M may have to be the amount Everton offer if they are to sign the forward.
