Mohamed Sissoko has arrived in Florence following the African Cup of Nations and is looking forward to the challenge of once again playing in Serie A.

Sissoko has completed a loan switch to Fiorentina from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, having slipped down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.

And the Mali international is relishing life at La Viola and the opportunity to play regular first team football under coach Vincenzo Montella.

"I’m really excited", he told reporters in Italy.

"During the last few months I have not been able to play the amount of football I wanted in Paris and now, at 28, I just want to play football.

"I know what project Fiorentina have in mind and I will do my best for the club."

Sissoko is not a stranger to Italian football, having enjoyed a spell with Juventus between 2008 and 2011.

He joins a side still dreaming of securing a Champions League spot for next season.

La Viola have slipped a little in recent weeks, but still sit sixth in Serie A and only five points behind the all-important third place, currently occupied by Lazio.
