Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris admits that it will not be easy for him to play against his old club Lyon in tomorrow’s Europa League clash.

A twist of fate has brought the Frenchman face to face with the club he left last summer to join Spurs, and it is a club he still has many fond memories of his time at.

And, while there is no doubt in the 26-year-old’s mind that he wants to help Spurs knock out his former side and progress to the next round in the Europa League, he does admit emotions will be running high.

"It’s not easy for me because I have a good relationship with all my ex-team-mates but that is football, that is the life", he told his club’s official site.

"On the pitch there are no friends. We play for our team and give all the best for our team.

"The objective is to be in the next round. We have ambition in this competition – we want to win."

Spurs have treated the Europa League seriously throughout their campaign this season, in contrast to a number of other English clubs.

Now though, as the business-end of the competition arrives, the London side must step up a gear as they bid to bring the silverware back to White Hart Lane – starting with gaining a good result against Lyon tomorrow.
