Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is a man in demand, his agent claims, with Barcelona and Manchester United having enquired about the availability of the Italian schemer.

Verratti moved to PSG just last summer, with the French giants splashing the cash to snap him up from Pescara, who had just gained promotion to Serie A from Serie B.

He landed at the Parc des Princes dubbed the "new Andrea Pirlo", and has not disappointed, with a series of intelligent performances for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

And his progress has not gone unnoticed, explains Verratti’s agent Donato Di Campli.

"Many clubs have already contacted me, Italian clubs, but not only – the big clubs in Spain and England too", he told French magazine Le 10 Sport.

"Barca and Manchester United are lining him up. [Sir Alex] Ferguson likes Marco a lot."

And Di Campli played down recent comments from his client about a possible return to Italy.

"There is nothing in these comments from Marco. Whenever Italian journalists speak to Marco they speak of a return to Italy.

"It is normal for a 20-year-old, who is Italian, to say ‘one day I would like to play in Serie A’.

"He has not played in Serie A, but he does not necessarily want to do that now."

The playmaker has made 17 appearances in Ligue 1 for PSG so far this season, while he has also played in all the club’s Champions League matches to date.

Verratti is under contract at the Parc des Princes until 2017.
