Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will be in between the sticks for Spain’s upcoming game against Finland in Gijon.

This decision by Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque has cleared up the speculation regarding who will be the first choice goalkeeper for Spain in the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifier match. Manchester United’s David de Gea and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina are the other two goalkeepers who are a part of the Spanish squad.

"Victor Valdes will play", the manager said while talking to Radio Marca.

The former Real Madrid boss is also looking forward to prolific striker David Villa being available for selection. The Barcelona talisman is Spain’s all-time top goalscorer and also has the most World Cup goals for the current number one team in the FIFA rankings.

“Fortunately he’s recovered. We’ve recovered the best Spanish goalscorer”, Del Bosque said.

La Roja now look to maintain their impressive form against their opponents, who sit in 85th position in the latest FIFA rankings.

The match will be played at the El Molinon stadium, the home of Sporting de Gijon, who play in the Spanish second division.
