Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin is in talks with clubs from Azerbaijan and Australia, according to Russian daily Izvestia.

Arshavin is preparing to say farewell to Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season and the 31-year-old is currently considering his options.



And the Russian has already had approaches, with clubs from Azerbaijan and Australia keen on bagging the former Zenit St. Petersburg schemer.

Azerbaijan are keen to make a big signing to boost the country’s football image and further its development.

One of the country’s clubs, Khazar Lankaran, recently appointed former Wales boss John Toshack as coach.

Australia too however boasts clubs hoping to lure Arshavin Down Under.

The country’s A-League tempted Alessandro Del Piero last year, with the veteran Italian signing for Sydney FC.

Arshavin however would be even an arguably bigger coup, given he is still only in his very early thirties.
