Chelsea playmaker Marko Marin has encouraged Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, adding that he will be joining a special club with a "family atmosphere" – but warning that the Germany star must hone his singing skills first.

Leverkusen confirmed earlier this month that they are indeed in talks with Chelsea about a possible deal for Schurrle, with Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller himself taking a trip to London – although he has recently hinted that any deal will rely on the arrival of Chelsea’s Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne at the BayArena.

Details aside, former Werder Bremen star Marin is looking forward to playing with Schurrle, adding he is in for a surprise should he make his move to England. "Should he indeed arrive, he will have to prepare himself for a different world", Marin told SportBild.

Marin has experienced this "different world" first hand in his stay at the club – the German spoke about singing Cotton Eye Joe in front of the team, a tradition at the club for newcomers. "After the meal, I got onto a chair in the room, first the masseur gave a funny speech and then it was my turn.

"The audience went wild and after my performance they all shouted in German, ‘encore’", Marin continued.

"Generally there is a family atmosphere at Chelsea. Everyone knows everyone. Even the chef and the cleaner. The club is something very special."

24-year-old Marin moved to Chelsea in July of last year for a fee of €8M. Since then, he has made a total 16 appearances in all competitions for the senior team.
