Despite struggling to make an impact with Chelsea this season, midfielder Marko Marin is still aiming to cement a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

The Germany international, who signed from Werder Bremen last summer, has appeared only 16 times for the Blues in all competitions this season so far. However, the 24-year-old still has his eyes firmly placed on a regular start.

“My only goal is to play regularly for Chelsea”, Marin told SportBild.

Marin has also referred to the Bundesliga as one of the best leagues in Europe and he would be happy to return to the top tier of German football.

“The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in Europe, but I have to say that the English league has something special. The mood and the style of play here make an impression.

“But why would I not return to Germany at some point? I grew up in Germany and life is super there.”

And the former Borussia Monchengladbach youngster remains positive that his limited playing time at Chelsea will not affect his chances of heading to the 2014 World Cup.

“Hansi Flick, the assistant coach of Germany, visited me a few weeks ago and said that I am still in the picture for the national team. It’s nice to know.

“But honestly I’m not concerned with World Cup 2014 currently. I concentrate on Chelsea.”
