Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has put the brakes on talk that he is set for a summer move to English Premier League giants Liverpool.

The Belgian centre-back has been strongly linked with a switch to the Reds, while other Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have all been mooted as fans.

It has recently been suggested though that it is to Anfield that Alderweireld, who is out of contract with Ajax in 2014, will head – talk that was only fuelled by the player himself.

But the defender is keen to make clear that he has not made any decision on his future yet, even if he has heard of Liverpool’s interest.

"I read that Liverpool are interested, but I have never said they would be my new club", he was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

"At the end of the season, I will look at all the options."

Ajax would like to keep hold of Alderweireld and have offered him a new deal.

However, the 24-year-old has stalled on putting pen to paper and has explained that he feels ready to move to a bigger league.

It remains to be seen where the Antwerp-born stopper will end up for 2013/14.
