In-demand Carlo Ancelotti turned down soundings from Liverpool, while he also snubbed an approach from Manchester United to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, according to Spanish daily El Confidencial.

Ancelotti is set to take over from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, having been lined up by the Spanish giants. And this despite being on the verge of steering Paris Saint-Germain to Ligue 1 glory and boasting a virtually limitless transfer kitty.

But it is not only PSG who look to have been rebuffed in their efforts to secure a commitment from the Italian tactician.

Indeed, Ancelotti has turned down soundings from Liverpool, Manchester City and Roma, ruling out taking over at any of the trio.

And perhaps more intriguingly, the former Chelsea boss appears to have snubbed interest from Manchester United.

According to a source cited by El Confidencial, Ancelotti met Sir Alex Ferguson a few weeks ago, where he was asked if he would like to be considered for the job at Old Trafford.

Ancelotti however was not interested, having already made up his mind to grab the opportunity being presented by Real Madrid.

The stage is now set for the ex-AC Milan coach to have the task of wrestling La Liga back from Barcelona next season, while David Moyes must step into the biggest shoes in football.
