AZ Alkmaar head coach Gertjan Verbeek has admitted the club could let go of young playmaker Adam Maher if they receive the right offer.

The 19-year-old Holland international has been one of the main cogs in AZ’s midfield, starting in 30 league games, missing only three matches. Overall, he has scored a total of 10 goals and provided the same number of assists in all competitions.

With the player full of promising talent, Verbeek admits they may forced to sell their playmaker – but only with the right offer.

"If there is a club that is willing to pay the fair market value, we would have no problem [in selling]", Verbeek was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.

But if Verbeek is to choose where the youngster would go, the manager believes Maher should go to a club with good players.

"Adam should go to a team with better players.

"He played better this season than the last because he had better players around him. He is able to achieve a higher level. Indeed, he is an exceptional talent", the Dutch tactician concluded.
