Carlo Ancelotti believes that David Beckham could go into coaching.

Beckham called time on his career last week, announcing that he will retire at the end of the current season. He was handed the Paris Saint-Germain captain’s armband for the clash on Saturday against Brest at the Parc des Princes, being substituted in the 80th minute and given a standing ovation.

PSG do have one further game left this season, away at Lorient, but Beckham is not expected to feature.

What the 38-year-old will do away from the game is open to question; he has been linked with become an ambassador for English football and buying an MLS club.

But Ancelotti has raised another intriguing prospect.

"He ended as an old, experienced player", the Italian told reporters.

"Next week he could be a young, talented coach. He has leadership skills and he reads the game very well."

However, Ancelotti insists he has not heard that Beckham wants to enter the dugout.

"I’ve not heard these things about him, so I could be being premature. But I’d like it in any case."
