Outgoing Montpellier manager Rene Girard has reiterated that he has no plans to take a sabbatical from management, adding that he would like it if he could land a job in England.

This season is Girard’s fourth year in charge of Montpellier. During his stay at the Stade de la Mosson, the French tactician has led Montpellier to their first ever Ligue 1 trophy, pipping favourites Paris Saint-German out of the running in the final day of the 2011/12 campaign.

But now Girard is set to leave the club as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, with the club’s supremos opting to replace him with ex-Auxerre boss Jean Fernandez.

With that, the Frenchman has set his sights on moving on to pastures new, with England his utmost preference.

"I’m not tired. I want to continue on with what I’m doing and would like to find a new club fairly quickly, but not just anyhow or anywhere", Girard told French radio station RMC.

"I would want to move abroad, seeing as all the major clubs here in France are already busy. I do have a preference for England", the 59-year-old added.

Apart from his time at Montpellier, Girard also had a stint as head coach of the French Under-16, Under-19 and Under-21 squads.
