Arsenal sent scout Giles Grimandi to take in Lyon’s 2-0 victory over Rennes in Ligue 1 last night.

Grimandi was spotted in the crowd at the final Ligue 1 fixture of the season, as the Gunners step up their summer transfer planning.

Les Gones’ victory over Rennes saw Remi Garde’s side finish third in Ligue 1 this season, securing Champions League football for 2013/14.

Grimandi, who has been at the centre of Arsenal’s recruitment within France, is believed to have been at the Stade Gerland to watch Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier, a player Wenger has admitted holding an interest in.

"It is true that we follow him", Wenger admitted to Telefoot.

The Gunners have also been linked with Grenier’s team-mate Maxime Gonalons.

It remains to be seen who Arsenal will bring in this summer, but the Premier League side are believed to have significant funds available for summer recruitment as they bid to improve on this season’s fourth place finish in 2013/14.
