PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale would be "honoured" and open to listening to an offer from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, according to the Welshman’s agent.

The Tottenham star has been making the headlines for all the right reasons, with a 21-goal league haul that almost singlehandedly propelled the London club towards the Champions League places.

However, failure to achieve a spot in Europe’s elite club competiton has opened the floodgates on transfer talk, including around long-time suitors Real Madrid, despite a Spurs contract that lasts until 2016.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett told Marca TV: "If Florentino [Perez] is interested in Gareth Bale, it would be an honour and we would listen.

"But he has a contract with Tottenham and we are not free to talk to anyone yet."

While several offers have been reported from across England and Europe since the start of the year, Barnett added: "I do not know if there has already been an offer.

"What I know is that the player has three years left on his contract. We have not spoken to anybody."

Barcelona’s recent capture of Brazilian star Neymar may have also upped the ante for Real Madrid, who will be keen to add a star name to their line-up for next season.

However, with Neymar’s market value being a reported €50m, and the cost to Barcelona possibly higher, Barnett believes Bale would fetch even more.

He said: "Bale is a better player and has proven this in one of the best leagues in the world."
