Outgoing Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he has a verbal agreement with Manchester City to take over as the English side’s new manager.

Pellegrini announced he is leaving Malaga at the end of the season earlier this month, with the Etihad Stadium widely believed to be his destination.

Now the Chilean tactician has indeed admitted that he has given his word to the Citizens that he will succeed Roberto Mancini at the club.

Pellegrini told Spanish TV channel Canal Sur: "I have a verbal agreement with them [Manchester City, ed.] and I hope it goes through."

The former Real Madrid manager did admit though that pen has not yet been put to paper.

"As of today I have not signed a contract. Until it is signed you cannot say that everything is done."

Pellegrini will take charge of his final Malaga match on Sunday, with a trip to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona on the agenda.

Malaga are determined to keep hold of sixth place in La Liga. Real Betis currently lie two points behind in seventh, but end their campaign with a trip to Levante.
