Tottenham Hotspur missing out on Champions League football for next season does not automatically rule the club out of tempting Leandro Damiao to White Hart Lane, the Brazil striker’s agent has explained.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has been a consistent admirer of Damiao and pushed hard to bring him to the club in the January transfer window, but to no avail.

The Internacional goal-getter has a number of suitors, with Serie A giants Napoli and Bundesliga powerhouses Borussia Dortmund having been linked with making a bid for his services.

And both are able to offer Damiao Champions League football for next season, unlike Spurs.

But the player’s agent Vinicius Prates believes that need not scupper Spurs’ chances, while talking up his client being ready to leave Brazil.

"With the progress that he has recently shown, I think he is mature enough to leave, he is ready to play in Europe", Damiao’s representative told Zero Hora.

"If it was a question of money he would be long gone.

"Leandro Damiao’s dream is to play at the World Cup.

"If he leaves it will be for a great club. He is under contract until 2016 and the club give him the means to achieve this dream.

"Our goal is always to work with the big clubs, all players dream of playing in the Champions League.

"But Tottenham are an important club and we can’t completely write them off."
