Talented Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic has revealed that he could have signed for Arsenal before he put pen to paper with Roma, but his father had given the Italian giants his word.

Pjanic joined the Giallorossi from French side Lyon in the summer of 2011, with the Italian club splurging close to €11m to take him to Serie A.

There had been much speculation over Pjanic’s future and now the Bosnia international has confirmed that he could have ended up at Arsenal.

"I had a number of offers at the time and was set to join Arsenal", he explained to Bosnian magazine AvazSport.
