The agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel insists it is for Napoli to agree a fee with the Merseyside giants if they want to sign his client.

Skrtel has been strongly linked with making a move to the Azzurri since former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez succeeded Walter Mazzarri at the San Paolo recently.

This, combined with Skrtel having lost his starting spot at Anfield, something which the Slovakian admits has made him unhappy and prepared to consider leaving, has led to talk he could quit the club to reunite with Benitez.

However, Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto insists that Napoli have not made contact over the centre-back and, if they wish to sign his client, they must thrash out a fee with Liverpool.

"There has been no contact between the two clubs", Csonto told Radio CRC.

"Martin has a contract with Liverpool and we must respect it.

"Of course, Napoli know him well, but there is no contact between us. First, a club must reach an agreement with Liverpool."

The 28-year-old was taken to Anfield in 2008 by Benitez, who swooped to buy him from Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg.
