Liverpool custodian Pepe Reina has explained that he is very happy and satisfied to be with the club, and also insisted that there are a few clubs as big as the Reds.

The Spanish international, who started the game for Vicente del Bosque’s side against Tahiti in the FIFA Confederations Cup last night, has been linked with a return to his boyhood club Barcelona.

The Reds in turn have been linked with Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet this summer.

However, Reina, who has contract at Anfield until June 2016, has explained that although a move to a bigger club would be a good option for him, there are just a handful of clubs bigger than the Merseyside giants.

“I am very happy and satisfied at Liverpool, I feel valued and respected”, Reina, 30, told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“It is logical that if there was an opportunity to improve myself and move to a bigger club, it would be a good option, but there are few clubs that are bigger than Liverpool.

“My situation is clear. I have a three-year contract with Liverpool, and although you can never know in football, the best option for my family and me is to stay at Liverpool.”

Reina has appeared 395 times with the Reds ever since he switched to Merseyside from Spanish side Villarreal in the summer of 2005.

He was recognised as Liverpool’s Player of the Season in 2009/10, and also won the FA Cup in his debut English Premier League season with the club.
