Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has addressed the growing chatter that his side are close to signing Atletico Mineiro winger Bernard.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with moving to White Hart Lane this summer as Villas-Boas steps up his recruitment plans.



But, while the former FC Porto coach admits he is a fan of Bernard and is monitoring his situation, he denied a deal being all but done for the 20-year-old.

"Bernard? He is a player that we’re following, along with many others", Villas-Boas told O Jogo.

"But I don’t think that anything will happen on Tottenham’s part."

Bernard has been mooted as a possible replacement for Gareth Bale, if the Welshman quits White Hart Lane this summer.

The Atletico Mineiro winger has enjoyed superb form in this year’s Copa Libertadores, scoring three goals in eight appearances.

His contract with at the Brazilian side runs until 2017.
