A statement on Anzhi's official site read: "Helping the head coach, Guus Hiddink, in the training process will be Rene Meulensteen – former assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson – and Hasanbi Bidzhiev.

"Hasanbi will continue performing functions as the club's sporting director and as you can see, all the [other] experts have a wealth of experience in leading European football clubs.

"Besides employment in the first team, they are designed to train local specialists within their profiles at Anzhi's academy, and share their knowledge with their colleagues from the youth team."

Meulensteen's exit from Manchester follows that of former assistant Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, as the duo left just weeks after the appointment of David Moyes as Ferguson's successor.
