Unal Aysal, the president of Turkish giants Galatasaray, has revealed that the club are presently negotiating with English Premier League giants Chelsea, to secure the services of midfielder John Obi Mikel.

The Nigeria international has expressed happiness that the Istanbul outfit have come in with a bid. He is set to join his former Chelsea team-mate Didier Drogba at the Turkish club if the transfer goes through.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues in 2006, snapped up by Jose Mourinho during his first stint with the club between 2004 and 2007. However, the Portuguese tactician, who returned to the club this summer, may decide to pack Mikel off to Galatasaray.

“We are interested in Mikel, and negotiations are under way", Aysal told Turkish daily Sabah.

The player clocked up a total of 182 Premier League appearances with the club over his seven seasons. He signed a contract extension in December last year, thus assuring his stay at Stamford Bridge until June 2017.
