Shakhtar Donetsk general director Sergei Palkin has explained that the only offer the Ukrainian club have received for in-demand midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has come from Borussia Dortmund.

The future of Mkhitaryan is developing into a summer transfer saga, with the Armenia star’s decision to skip Shakhtar Donetsk’s pre-season training camp angering the Ukrainian champions.

It did seem just a matter of time until the 24-year-old headed to join Liverpool, with sources in Russia indicating that the Merseyside giants had agreed a fee of €30m to sign Mkhitaryan.

Indeed, it was said to be just a matter of days until last season’s Ukrainian Premier League top scorer would become a Liverpool player.

But, with Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur also in the running for Mkhitaryan, Palkin has stressed the German giants are the only side to have lodged an official bid.

"Mkhitaryan? There has been no change", Palkin was quoted as saying by Football UA, providing an update on the situation.

"Did I mention that Borussia have made an offer of $30m dollars? Our position, €30m euros. This is the only proposal that has come."

It remains to be seen what developments will unfold in the coming days, with Mkhitaryan said to be in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.

Liverpool are believed to remain the player’s first choice destination, but Mkhitaryan may open the door to Dortmund if the Merseyside giants cannot close the deal.

Palkin also addressed the specifics of how Mkhitaryan can leave the club, explaining he has no release clause in his contract, but could break the deal if he paid $30m dollars to do so.
