Gonzalo Higuain is expected in London imminently to finalise his big money switch from Real Madrid to Arsenal.

The cameras of Spanish TV channel Cuatro captured Higuain at Madrid airport earlier today and the station revealed that the Argentine striker is expected either tonight, or tomorrow morning, to take the short trip to London.

Higuain’s father, Jorge Higuain, has confirmed that Arsenal have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for his son, who also has been granted permission to speak to the Gunners.

It is thought that Arsenal will pay Real Madrid £23m for Higuain.

The player will also join the top rank of earners at the Emirates Stadium by taking home around £100,000 per week.

Higuain slipped down the pecking order at Real Madrid last season, with Karim Benzema firmly preferred by then-coach Jose Mourinho.

Now it appears the Argentine will once again play in the same league as Mourinho next season. But he will meet the Portuguese as adversaries, with Mourinho in the Chelsea dugout and Higuain leading the Arsenal attack.
