New Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Dutch winger Arjen Robben, quelling speculation that the Holland international may soon be heading for the Allianz Arena exit.

Robben’s future with the Bavarian giants was tinged with doubt with the arrival of new boss Guardiola, who was tipped to be looking towards the club’s younger players for next season.

Such speculation spurred on interest from different clubs, with Serie A giants Inter Milan, FA Cup finalists Manchester City as well as Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray all linked with pondering a swoop for Robben.

But Guardiola, who has sounded his first team plans for Robben, told a press conference, via Voetbal Primeur: "Robben? A top, top player.

"Robben is a gift for me. I’m going to keep him, especially at this level", Guardiola added.

Robben made a total of 30 appearances for Bayern Munich last season, scoring 13 goals along the way, including two goals over two legs in the German giants’ Champions League semi-final clash against Catalan outfit Barcelona.

Robben’s contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire in 2015.
