Denmark assistant coach Peter Bonde has told Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner that the moment has come to put playing time ahead of money.

Bendtner has just seen a switch to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt break down due to personal terms, with the German club not prepared to match the sums the hitman earns at the Emirates Stadium.

Frankfurt had reached an agreement with Arsenal over a fee, but economic concerns over Bendtner’s salary caused them to pull the plug on the deal.

For Bonde, who has seen the player spend a year of limited playing time on loan at Juventus last season, while there is little room for him at Arsenal, the time has come for Bendtner to get his career back on track.

And that means making a financial sacrifice if necessary.

"I can’t say what happened in Bendtner’s case with Frankfurt and Arsenal, because I do not really know what is going on", Bonde told Danish daily BT.

"But if we take it as a general discussion of playing time versus wages, it is not strange that we as the country’s coaches think that the player may well give up a few million here and there and then get to play.

"Playing time for us is essential and we’re missing Bendtner being at a club that are at a reasonable level and playing. Such as in one of the big leagues, because he’s got the skills.

"And I totally don’t care if he gets a billion or a thousand kroner per month. He just needs to play football and he can never get enough.

"That is what we’re hoping for and we hope that he and his advisors will at some point realise this."
