Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel is happy that Oussama Assaidi wants to head to De Kuip, taking it as further evidence of the Dutch side’s attraction.

Assaidi moved from Heerenveen in the Eredivisie to English Premier League giants Liverpool last summer, but has struggled for first team football at Anfield, with the Reds prepared to allow him to make for pastures new for the right deal.

The Moroccan international has seemingly indicated Feyenoord would fit the bill, words which have reached Van Geel’s ears, leaving him pleased.

"It is a very nice signal for us that he wants to come", Van Geel told NUsport.

"But Bojan Krkic [who joined Ajax, ed.] also indicated he wanted to sit down.

"So there are lots of players who want to come to Feyenoord."

And Van Geel addressed the club’s transfer strategy, with the emphasis on gaining value through late swoops.

"We must strike at the last minute", he said.

"Players who over the last few seasons seemed unattainable for us, like Graziano Pelle and John Guidetti, were still viable.

"The same could maybe also happen this year. We need to be inventive, but that’s no problem."

Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie last season, missing out on a Champions League spot on goal difference.
