AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has given up on the possibility of Fiorentina man Adem Ljajic arriving this summer, but hope is still in the air over a January move for Keisuke Honda.

Honda, who is contracted at CSKA Moscow until December this year, has been chased by Milan all of this summer, but the Rossoneri are facing problems in making space within their own ranks.

The same problem emerged over Ljajic, as Brazilian star Robinho’s potential move to Santos fell through over the financial impact.

Ljajic had once been courted by Chelsea last year, while talks between Milan and Fiorentina were held previously, according to the player’s agent.

However, while admitting defeat over an agreement with Fiorentina, Galliani is keeping his fingers crossed things turn out better when Honda edges closer to his contract end.

"Robinho is working extremely hard and he needs to get back to doing what he did in his first season with us", Galliani told Sky Italia.

"Honda and Ljajic are different. Ljajic is not possible because Robinho hasn’t left, while there is a good chance that Honda can arrive in January, and so we’ll wait for him then."
