Liverpool have joined Sevilla in holding an interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, as they plan for possible life after Luis Suarez.

The Reds are battling to keep hold of Suarez in the face of interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid, while the Uruguayan is thinking seriously of leaving Anfield this summer.

Liverpool have already raided Spanish football twice in the current transfer window, snapping up Luis Alberto from Sevilla and Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo.

But Brendan Rodgers’ men may not be finished with their La Liga foray yet, with Real Madrid marksman Morata a target, according to Punto Pelota.

Sevilla are suitors too and, like Liverpool, will be watching developments at the Bernabeu closely, especially with Alvaro Negredo having made for Manchester City.

Morata has been hoping for more playing time at Real Madrid in the new season and, with Gonzalo Higuain edging towards the exit door, was confident of grabbing it.

However, the expected transfer of the Argentine has not materialised yet, with Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti not keen on bidding farewell to Higuain.

And if Higuain remains at the Bernabeu, Morata could look elsewhere for the regular action he craves.
