Having splashed the cash to reel in players to their club, historic treble winners Bayern Munich find themselves on the other side of transfer market business with Wolfsburg registering their interest in defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

Gustavo, 25, made a total 36 appearances for the Bavarian giants last term, a testament to his importance in Bayern Munich’s first team set-up.

But with new manager Pep Guardiola coming in and adding the likes of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara to the squad alongside solid holding midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez, Gustavo may fear losing playing time – something Wolfsburg are hoping to impress on the Brazil international.

"Luiz Gustavo meets all of our criteria", Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs told German daily Kicker.

Gustavo, whom Bayern Munich signed from fellow German club Hoffenheim in 2010, has a contract that locks him down at the Allianz Arena until 2015.

The 25-year-old has also played for his country at international level, notching up 10 appearances in total for the Selecao.
