Liverpool are believed to be readying a concrete move for Ajax attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, which will see the club rival AC Milan for the 21-year-old.

The Reds have been linked with the classy Danish playmaker for much of the summer, with Eriksen seeing his contract at the Amsterdam ArenA expiring next summer and being keen to make a move to a bigger club.

Borussia Dortmund were interested in Eriksen, but ultimately chose to buy Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk, beating Liverpool to the Armenian midfielder.

AC Milan have also entered the race, speaking to Eriksen’s representatives and reportedly agreeing the outline of personal terms if the player moves to Italy, dependent on thrashing out a fee with Ajax.

Now though Liverpool are thought to be making their move.

According to Tutto Mercato, the Reds are ready to place a bid of €21m on the table for the Denmark international.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Reds have left it too late to tempt Eriksen to Anfield, with Milan’s move a concrete one for the schemer, while Ajax coach Frank de Boer continues to hope the player will stay put, at least for a further season.
