Atletico Mineiro have confirmed they have received an offer from "an English club" for Brazil international winger Bernard.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with the 20-year-old, sending a scout to watch him in action in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final last week; Atletico Mineiro claimed the trophy on penalties, beating Olimpia.

However, the Gunners’ North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have also taken a liking to Bernard, though their recent capture of Belgian winger Nacer Chadli places doubt over whether they will push ahead to sign the Brazilian.

Nevertheless, Atletico Mineiro sporting director Eduardo Maluf insists an offer is on the table from an English side.

"We have an offer from an English club, of €16m", Maluf was quoted as saying by Portuguese daily O Jogo.

"However, our president will only sell for €25m", he added.

Bernard has also been the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Porto this summer.
