Celtic are just a medical away from confirming their second Dutch arrival of the summer transfer window, with winger Derk Boerrigter set for his move away from Ajax.

Defender Virgil van Dijk arrived from FC Groningen earlier this summer, and Boerrigter is now understood have travelled to Glasgow to complete the formalities.

According to De Telegraaf, the player’s agent Soren Lerby has confirmed the transfer is happening as Boerrigter looks ahead to a three-year contract at Celtic Park.

The player’s medical is expected to be conducted today, which will pave the way for the 26-year-old to join the Scottish champions for a reported €2m.

Celtic have lost a few attacking players in the transfer window, with Gary Hooper leaving for Norwich City, Victor Wanyama heading to Southampton and Daryl Murphy joining Championship side Ipswich Town.

In Boerrigter the Hoops will be gaining a versatile player who can operate on both flanks, and who spent two years with Eredivisie winners Ajax.

He even managed 16 goals in all competitions – achieved in 66 games – a number which could have been higher but for a back injury he picked up in November 2011.
